With a collection of stunning photos Wes will walk you through the basics of dahlia growing along with tips like how to grow healthy blooms on long stems for flower arrangements, storage and cultural considerations. Wes Bowers is the past-president of the Greater Philadelphi a Dahlia Society. Wes is a life-long gardener who received his initial trai ning from his father, a professional gardener for a portion of his career. Wes has been growing dahlias for over a decade. He started with just a few plants but now has almost 200 dahlias in his garden. One of his focus areas is on using dahlias as a landscaping element in his garden.
Wes has shown his dahlia blooms in a variety of settings, including local shows at Longwood Gardens, the Maryland State Fair, and national shows of the Americ an Dahlia Society. His dahlias have won numerous awards, including the awar d for the best open centered bloom at the American Dahlia Society national show in 2018.
