Shade Garden Workshop: Understanding the Varied Degrees of Shade in Your Garden

Join us for another opportunity to visit Northview in all its April glory. Northview is the garden of Jenny Rose Carey, author, educator, and speaker. Our visit in April 2024 was focused on Jenny’s incredible collection of spring-flowering bulbs. On this visit Jenny will focus on shade gardening, presenting a workshop based on her book, “Glorious Shade". We will tour the garden and study various types of shade, such as full shade, part shade, and edge shade. The goal of the workshop is to give you take-home information to help improve your own shade garden.

Northview Garden was originally part of the Lenni Lenape tribal lands. There is also some evidence that the land was part of a route of the Underground Railroad to free slaves. The property was purchased by Jenny and her husband in 1997 and has been enhanced constantly since that time.

Northview is a garden not to be missed. And Jenny is an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher. Don’t let this special opportunity pass you by!

This event is for Members only. Registration is required. The cost is $30 per person. Maximum number of guests is 25. A waitlist will be available if needed.

This is a rain or shine event. Bring an umbrella for light rain. Wear comfy footwear.

Bring your own lunch; tea and water will be provided by Jenny. Lunch and refreshments can be enjoyed under cover in the Carriage House.

Jenny’s books will be available for purchase (cash, check or Venmo) and signing that day. Or bring your own copies for Jenny to sign and personalize for you. The price of ‘Glorious Shade’ is $25.
