More information on Putnam Hill Nursery and Cavano’s Perennials: Putnam Hill Nursery began in 1996 and is owned and operated by Melanie Ruckle. Melanie’s many years of horticultural and gardening experience have resulted in a nursery full of garden worthy plants, many of which are unusual or difficult to find in the trade. The nursery has many natives, pollinator plants, rock garden plants, groundcovers, and sun and shade perennials. Quite a few HPS/MAG members have been to Putnam Hill, either in 2022 after visiting Ladew Gardens or in 2024 on the way home from our trip to the gardens of Washington, DC. It is definitely worth a visit. More info at https://putnamhillnursery.com/. Cavano’s Perennials, Inc. began in 1972 as a small cut flower business on a five-acre farm in Kingsville, Maryland (Baltimore County). Today, Cavano’s Perennials Inc. is a thriving and growing wholesale to the trade nursery/greenhouse operation with over 50 employees, growing more than 1,700 varieties of plants. In 2023, our member, and local horticultural “celebrity,” David Culp joined Cavano’s as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Many HPS/MAG members have attended pop-up’s at David’s fabulous Brandywine Cottage garden. And in 2024 members also visited Cavano’s on the way home from our trip to the gardens of Washington, DC. Many plants were purchased! More info at https://cavanos.com/. Questions? Contact: Janice Thomas at webmaster@hardyplant.org |
