Guided Tour at Morris Arboretum & Gardens:
Bare Naked Trees

The guided tours at the Morris offered by HPS/MAG since January 2022 have been popular events with our members. A special collaboration with the Morris Arboretum & Gardens allows us to offer docent-guided tours throughout the year focused on specialty topics not often offered.

Explore the beauty of “bare naked trees” in winter. Without their leaves, deciduous trees reveal a variety of shapes, textures, and sculptures to admire. The Bare Naked Trees tour features weeping, round, pyramidal, and vase-shaped trees, and highlights the many colors and textures of tree barks. This tour provides an artful, unique perspective of the arboretum’s trees as viewed for their structure, grace, texture, and movement.

Tour participants are encouraged to bring a camera to capture the artistic nature of the trees.

Note: The seasonal Garden Railway will be open on the day of the tour and feature the holiday display – an “extra” worth seeing during your visit!

Please gather at the Welcome Center and be prepared to walk "off path" around the arboretum. Wear walking or hiking shoes and dress for the weather. In the event of heavy rain, the rain date will be Thursday, December 11th.

The arboretum’s hours are 10 AM - 4 PM. Tour attendees may arrive early or stay after the tour to further explore the arboretum. The gift shop and restrooms will be open.

This is a Members Only event and is limited to 20 participants. Registration is required. $10 per attendee. Only guests who are on the same membership as the registrant are permitted to attend.

Registration will open October 29th. Registration closes December 7th.
