HPS/MAG Trip to New York City Gardens

Join us for a three-day adventure to explore some of the finest gardens of New York City. We will start our exploration at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. This year their garden theme is “Flower Power.” The other gardens we will visit are the High Line, Brooklyn Bridge Park, and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Plus, enjoy a “Best of NYC” cruise around the entire island of Manhattan.

Itinerary (subject to change)

Tuesday:

Depart from West Chester, PA (pick-up location TBD) to travel to the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx.

After touring the NYBG, our motorcoach will take us to our hotel in Manhattan. We will be staying at the Embassy Suites by Hilton New York Manhattan Times Square, 60 W 37th St, New York, NY 10018. Please note: This hotel offers only King Beds and a Pull-Out Sofa. People wanting to share a room can determine who will sleep in the bed and pull-out bed, or if you feel comfortable doing so, sharing the king size bed. I don’t need to know how you are sharing but I will need to know who you are sharing a room with.

Embassy Suites will have an Evening Reception each night if you wish to participate.

Dinner (and the Manhattan nightlife?) on your own.

Wednesday:

Please Note: Wednesday will be a Walking or NYC Subway Day. No Motor Coach will be available on Wednesday. You need to be able to maneuver the streets and subway.

This trip is set up a little differently because it’s a city tour and it’s easier to get around without a large motor coach.

On Wednesday morning we will take NYC subway or walk down to the beginning of the High Line gardens downtown on 10^th Avenue. We will walk to the end of the High Line at 30^th Street (~1.5 miles). Arrangements for a tour are being made with Yuki Kaneko who spoke at March Into Spring this year.

Wednesday lunch is not included. We will be in an area of NYC where you can easily grab something for lunch before the cruise.

From the 30^th St. end of the High Line we will walk over to Circle Line Cruises at their Midtown Location: Pier 83, 83 North River Piers, New York, NY, 10036. Our “Best of NYC” cruise will be 2½ hours long. You will see numerous NYC landmarks from the boat as we sail completely around Manhattan.

After the cruise we will walk back to the hotel.

Embassy Suites will again have an Evening Reception if you wish to participate.

Dinner will be on your own.

Thursday:

On Thursday morning the bus will pick us up from the hotel and we will travel down to the Brooklyn Bridge Park. We visited this garden a few years ago but like any garden it is ever-changing.

We will then make a quick stop at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden before departing for our return trip to West Chester (drop-off location TBD).

The cost of the tour is $850.00 double occupancy; $1170.00 single occupancy.

The cost of the trip covers: the Motor Coach, two nights’ accommodation at the Embassy Suites in NYC, admissions and tours at the NY Botanical Garden, Brooklyn Bridge Park, the High Line, Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the Circle Line Cruise, all breakfasts, two lunches, and the bus driver’s tip.

Not covered in the cost of the trip: NY Subway transportation, dinners, Wednesday’s lunch, and any nighttime entertainment that you wish to attend.
