A Tour of Kristi’s Garden – Gardening with and for InsectsVegetable gardening with insect pressure and gardening to support insects can seem like opposing interests, but, in fact, gardening to support insects is part of the solution to the problem of insect pressure in the vegetable garden. Learn how growing plants to support insect life can also help with your vegetable garden pest pressure when used in conjunction with physical, cultural, and biological Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices. Kristi Wenrich, a Penn State Extension Master Gardener, loves to garden! She grows, eats, and preserves every vegetable, herb, and spice she can acquire seeds for in Montgomery County, PA. Her goal is to transform her tiny piece of suburbia from generic lawn into an edible landscape for humans, insects, and birds. Her favorite crop to grow is new gardeners! Pictures of her garden can be found on the public Instagram account @gardening_kristi. Open to members and nonmembers. Cost is $5 for members; $15 for nonmembers. Registration is required. Maximum number of attendees is 25. Registration will open on May 1st and close on June 14th. Click here if you would like to become a member of HPS/MAG before registering for this event. Bring an umbrella if there’s light rain. In the event of heavy rain, the pop-up will be held on Tuesday, June 24th. The property has steep and gentle slopes, but the entire property is accessible via the gentle slopes. Address and parking instructions will be sent to all registrants in their confirmation email.
