Fall Blooming Bulbs with Charles Cresson – a Virtual Pop-UpTo most people, “fall bulbs” suggests the time to plant bulbs for spring blooms. But experienced gardeners also know that there are quite a few hardy bulbs that actually bloom in the autumn. For example, the earliest kinds, such as colchicum and lycoris, bloom among late perennials. These are followed by various crocus, sternbergia, and snowdrops which coincide with fall camellias, fragrant osmanthus, and the colorful fruit of skimmia. Let’s not forget cyclamen with their long bloom season and enchanting leaf patterns. Most of these bulbs are easy to grow too! Learn about the many species and cultivars and how to include them in your garden. Be prepared to find yourself adding items to your fall shopping list for bulbs. Handouts will be sent to registered attendees prior to the lecture. Be sure to sign up for the Pop-Up on September 16th – an in person visit to Charles Cresson's Hedgleigh Spring garden to view many of his fall blooming bulbs in all their glory. Charles Cresson is an avid gardener, plantsman, lecturer, consultant, and author.
