Pollinator Week at Kind Earth Growers – A Native Plants Nursery Tour

A visit to Kind Earth Growers is an experience you’ll want to be part of – a behind the scenes tour of a wholesale nursery specializing in native plants. Read on for Kind Earth’s description of what we will see on our visit.

You will see first-hand what goes into creating our plants. From seed flats to our production team, each step will be on view during your nursery tour with our owner John Mark Courtney. The tour includes a walk through our five greenhouses and half an acre of outdoor aquatic beds. A meander, weather permitting, through our managed warm season meadow concludes at our founder’s plot and seed garden.

John Courtney will introduce you to our team, and you will speak with our Head Grower and seed starter extraordinaire Joseph Lament.

Erin Range, part of our leadership team will be on hand to guide you through our Pollinator Week marketplace where our plug plants and other native plants in quarts or gallons will be available for retail purchase to help celebrate Pollinator Week, sponsored by the Xerces Society.

We are an indoor/outdoor nursery, so come prepared in appropriate outdoor gear. We promise you’ll enjoy your time at Kind Earth Growers, a nursery devoted to enriching the lives of people and the earth with plants that contribute to ecologically resilient landscapes and the connections between humans and the natural world.

Kind Earth Growers is a wholesale greenhouse grower specializing in small plants. We grow native straight species herbaceous perennials and grasses, with a special interest in aquatic and wetland perennials.

Kind Earth Growers was founded in 2017 by John Mark Courtney to meet the growing demand for native perennials. We grow 215 plus native plants, mostly from seed. We operate 22,000 square feet of greenhouse and outdoor space. We grow over 1 million plants a year.

Our greenhouses are in Ottsville, PA but we ship throughout the continental US and Canada. We supply our seed-grown native plug plants to esteemed horticultural institutions such as Chanticleer: A Pleasure Garden, Longwood Gardens, New York’s The High Line, and Brooklyn’s Brooklyn Bridge Park. We also ship throughout the US to other nurseries and large-scale garden center suppliers. Stormwater management and municipal waterworks are important aspects of our business and are at least 1/3 of our total sales. This is due to our wetland specialty plants. We offer plants for rehabilitation and mitigation projects throughout the northeast and beyond.
